Aspirin Use in Early Pregnancy: Risks and What to Do

Question
I am 22, am pregnant with my second child, and the date of my last period was July 29.  About a week ago I took one 325 mg dose of asprin, not  realizing it's potential harm.  Should I be worried?

Answer
Don't be concerned. You should not take Aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen in the second or third trimester because they can cause premature closure of the ductus arteriosis in the heart of the baby, and they can cause bleeding. HOwever, it will not hurt the baby in the first trimester. You are in your first trimester until the end of October. Don't worry.
