Understanding C-Section Risks & Future Pregnancies After Multiple Procedures

Question
Hello,My age is 33 I have 3 children ages 4,6,10 We are trying for one more our 1st boy.
I have been preg 5 times now with one 4 mo    along misscarage. And a stillborn at 34 weeks. My last preg. was delivered at 34 weeks because of placena abruption. Which was the only prob since the first two, I have had 4 c-sections now. My question is this, What kind of pregnancy and delivery can we expect? How dangerous is 5 c-sections? Any birth problems because of these things? My youngest has serious developmental delays, Is this likely to happen again or be worse? Thank You for your time and trouble.

Answer
There will be no problems with carrying the pregnancy, nor should there be any developmental problems with the baby just because you have had 4 cesareans. However, delivery may be difficult. Your bladder rises with each cesarean and is tacked up on the uterus higher and higher with each operation. It is sometimes difficult to enter the abdominal cavity due to scarring and having the bladder so high. There can be bladder injury as well. With 4 cesarean sections, your previous scar is weak and may cause rupture of the uterus or a thinning of the wall of the uterus. Sometimes, even a "window" can form at the site of the scar. Make sure that you have an obstetrician who is comfortable in repeat cesarean sections, especially so many.
