QuestionI am 28 and this is my fourth child. This was my first c-section. I have been having a lot of pain not what I was expecting and what I have been told about from friends. How can can someone tell if the uterus was resutured correctly, and what are some early sings to be looking for and what are the limts of something like this? Sorry while I was in the hospital they would not explain themselves for me. But I was told by one of the RN's that they should have done a hysterectomy. Thank you for being so helpful.

I was wondering if you could tell me what could cause the uterus to tear during a c-section? Also what maybe the effects that this problem could cause?
Thank you very much, Jennipher

If you have been in labor for any length of time, the wall of the uterus gets paper thin and can tear by merely touchiing it with a finger. If it was resutured correctly, there will be no problems in the future.
AnswerI can't tell exactly what occurred during your cesarean section to cause you to have so much pain. Usually, as the uterus contracts down to its normal size, the uterus heals quite well after a cesarean. Of course, there may have been complications during the surgery (with the bladder, round ligaments, bleeding, etc). If your nurse mentioned that they should have done a hysterectomy, they may have had difficulty resuturing the uterus. I would suggest that you get a copy of the operative report and discuss it with your doctor. Otherwise, there is no way to tell if everything was done correctly. If you have unremitting pain, go back to your obstetrician and discuss it.
