You cannot become pregnant during your period. YOu cannot ovulate at any time of the cycle. Ovulation depends on three hormones (estrogen, progesterone, and luteinizing hormone). In the first half of the month, you produce estrogen. This hormone causes a thickening of your endometrium (the wall of your uterus)in preparation of implantationn of the fertilized egg and also matures the follicles in your ovary in preparation for ovulation. At mid cycle estrogen drops and progesterone starts to rise. Progesterone is the hormone that forms arteries in the endometrium and maintains the pregnancy if you become pregnant. If you do not become pregnant progesterone causes the onset of your period (the sloughing off of your endometrium). At the same time as the rise of progesterone and the fall of estrogen, LH surges (increases quickly) causing the expulsion of the egg from the ovary. This egg then travels to the end of the fallopian tube and awaits sperm to come and fertilize it. In a woman with a 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14 (fourteen days prior to the first day of your period). However, since you normally have a 35 day cycle, you still ovulate 14 days prior to your period, which is cycle day #21. Therefore, you can only become pregnant if you have sex on cycle day #20,21,22, or 23. You cannot, in any way, conceive on cycle day 5 because there is no way that the egg has matured enough to ovulate by that time. If you miss your next period, wait an additional seven days and take a pregnancy test, but you cannot get pregnant during your period. Don't
worry.
well isn't it possible for the ovary release some other eggs while the first eggs is waiting to get fertilized so on my period the second bactch of eggs are waiting to get fertilized so i would be fertile on my period?
AnswerOnce an egg is expelled from the ovary (ovulation) no other eggs will be ovulated and no other follicles can be matured until the next cycle, when estrogen starts to build up again.Only one egg awaits fertilization. No egg can be released during your period. You are only fertile for one day prior to ovulation and up to two days after ovulation. You cannot become pregnant while you are having your period.
