QuestionHi
I am 34, having one child aged 3. First day of last period 26 Aug 05.
We have been trying for our second child for a year now. I was on deprovia injections for about 10 months after my first was born and then on the oral pill until last Aug. Been actively trying since then. My periods were very regular - like clockwork before I conceived my first but after stopping the pill had been somewhat erratic & relatively light and short, whereas earlier it was heavy for 3 days and will stop altogether by the 4-5 day. Now it will start light and stop on the second day but for another 7-10 days will keepon going. Spotting. Like something is leaking inside me.
From Aug last year I had it on AUG 25 , SEP 22, OCT 18, NOV 15, DEC 15,JAN 8,FEB 6, MAR 9,APR 3,MAY 4, JUN 4, JUL 1 & 28, AUG 26. It seems to be coming back to the 28 day cycle that I had earlier.
We went to the GP to get him to refer me to a fertiliuty Dr. GP asked me to get initial blood tests done. mainly to check hormone levels in the blood. I did the test on day 19 of my cycle. According to the results I had not ovulated. GP refered me to a specialist but I have to wait for a month to see her.
I know that it's possible to have a period without ovulating in some months, but is it possible to have a period but not ovulate for years? and is it possible for me to have ovulated after day 19? according to my period dates in previous cycles it seems that I should have ovulated by day 19. I have heard that some women have ovulating again after stopping deprovia. What's the next course of action? Will the specialist do some more tests before giving me drugs to ovulate? I have begun charting my temp recently. How long do I have to chart before I can get a reliable result to detect whether I am not ovulating at all.
And I have been having thrush almost all my life. I used Canesten 20g (Clotrimazole) 3 Day Cream to get rid of it some months back. My husband also used the cream at the same time. Just 2 months after that both of us have got it again. All Itchy white cottage chesse appreance. Why has it come back? What sort of cream (ie. containing what chemical) is most effecttive against treatment of thrush? Some dr's say that thrush should be treated and got rid of before planning a pregnancy. Does thrush have an impact on concieving ?
Thanks
Renu
AnswerIt appears that you are returning to your normal 28 day cycle. If you have a 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation should occur on cycle day #14. You can conceive if you have sex on cycle daqy #13, 14, 15, or 16 each month. You can purchase an ovulation predictor kit to pinpoint the exact day of ovulation. I don't know what test the GP did to say you did not ovulate. A BBT chart should be kept for at least three months to see the trend of the temperature and to assess ovulation. If you are getting your period regularly again since the DepoProvera, you probably are, indeed, ovulating. You merely have to determine exactly when. Thrush is a yeast infection of the newborn. You do not have thrush. You have a yeast infection caused by Candida albicans. Your doctor can give you Diflucan 150mg. This is one pill that you take once. You can also continue the clotrimazole, but a seven day course is better than the three day cream. Only use it if you have definite evicdence of a yeast infection (White cheezy discharge with intense itching). You do not have to eradicate the yeast prior to trying to conceive. Yeast (candida albicans) lives normally in your vagina and flares up whenever your pH changes (arguments, antibiotics, etc).
