38 Weeks Pregnant: Cramping, Back Pain & Brownish Discharge - Is Labor Near?
QuestionHello. . .
I am 38 weeks pregnant today. I am dilated to a 2, 75% effaced and he is positioned at "0". For the past week I have been experiencing lower back pain, cramping in my lower abdominal, tightening, and brownish-sludgy discharge. The cramping seem sto be getting more sharp the past couple of days and when I stand my pelvic floor and vagina feel so sore. My Dr. doesn't think that I will be even another week. I just wanted to get a second opinion. Are these symptoms of a labor approaching. Could I be in pre-labor? Please let me know your opinion.
Thank you so much! :)
Jessica
AnswerHi Jessica,
I believe you are in slow labor. It is common to have a brownish, bloody discharge within 24 hours of a vaginal exam or intercourse. I also believe you are experiencing progressing contractions. They're usually felt in the abdomen, back, or both. And usually increase if you walk or stand.
