Spotting and Lower Left Quadrant Cramps: Causes & When to See a Doctor
QuestionHi- I have some abnormal spotting and cramping. It is light spotting over the last 4 days ranging from red to brown. I began having cramping at the same time in the LLQ,radiating around to my left lower back. The cramping gradually seems to have worsened though it is intermittent in severity. It is probably a 4/10 right now. The first day of my last cycle was May 6th. My cycles have been 38-40 days. I have had 3 periods since I gave birth on 12/22/07. I have been breastfeeding on demand since my baby was born. I am definitely not pregnant now. I am wondering if it is possible that the cramping and spotting could be due to ovulation? How long would you expect ovulatory cramping/spotting to last? If ovulation is an unlikely cause what else would you be thinking of as possible causes?
Answerovulation occurs 14 days prior to the beginning of menses... so it isn't from ovulation. I would worry about endometriosis... uterus tissue outside of the uterus, also other metabolic diseases like a thyroid disorder.... those are the first that come to mind..... you need to get back to your GYN.....
