Understanding Negative HPT with Progesterone & Clomid - Fertility Forum
QuestionI have a rather detailed question - thank you for your advice!
I was taking progesterone since 3 DPO. This is my first cycle with a fert. specialist. I had some spotting yesterday (14 DPO) and was sure AF was here - I always seem to start with spotting, then really heavy the next day. So at the spotting, I called the doc and he said stop progesterone and start clomid on cycle day 4. He also said that I shouldn't start counting day 1 until I had actual flow (not spotting).
Well, today the spotting has stopped and my temp has still not dropped like it usually does the AF starts.(Though it is lower than earlier in the Luteal Phase) I took a HPT and got a negative. Is it possible I am pregnant and still getting a negative 15 days past ovulation (I am sure when I ovulated since I used the trigger shot)? Or could the progesterone be causing this?
THanks again,
Maggie
AnswerThe best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your period, or 21 days after ovulation. I doubt that the progesterone supplementation caused any problems. If the pregnancy test still shows up negative at that time, you are not pregnant. I would also take the Clomid for five consecutive days. Don't get frustrated. Don't lose hope. Keep trying. Good Luck.
