Understanding Pregnancy After Irregular Periods: A Medical Perspective
QuestionI was on nuva ring for one month, started 3/6/06 and took it out on 3/26/06, by accident it came out one day earlier then I was supposed to. I also did not start it on the first day of my period but before as my doctor advised. I had a normal period on 3/25/06 to 3/31/06. I had unprotected sex on 4/08 and 4/16. He did not ejaculate however. My period did not come so I took a test on 4/19 and 4/22 both came back negative. I had cramping and little bit of nausea and tender breasts for about 2 weeks and no period ever came. So I waited and finally on 4/26 I had a spot of brownish discharge and that was it. Same happened the next day. Then on friday 4/28 I had little more blood not enough to wear a tampon and this continued the following 3 days. It was very abnormal if it was a period. I have been on the pill before and then stopped and my period still has been normal and never later then 28 days. Now since 5/3 I have been very fatigued, breast are very tender almost uncomfortable constantly and urinating atleast 3 times through the night and more in the day too. My bowel movements have changed extremely I had what I thought was IBS for a long time so very constant diarreha never constipation like last week and a half. I should mention that I have been pregnant 3 times before and never had any of this weird ness with a weird period or spotting I had only had missed period and positive test early. I am not sure what is going on so I guess i am wondering if I could be pregnant? I have not taken another test as I don't want to waste the money since I have already done two before that came back negitive. But I am also wondering if the nuva ring messed up my cycle and I maybe ovulated later then normal and got pregnant around the 4/18 and what I thought was a light and weird period was actually implantation bleeding and if now a test would be more accurate then before? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
AnswerKayla,
There is a chance you could be pregnant so the only sure way to know is to either test with a home pregnancy test, or follow up with your OB/GYN for bloodwork. It might not be a bad idea to follow up with him/her anyway as the bleeding/spotting you have been experiencing is not normal for you. It could be the NuvaRing, or it could be something else. I hope this helps.
