QuestionHello I am about 8 weeks pregnant, and still have two weeks until my first ob/gyn appt. I have a lot of dental problems and need 2-3 teeth pulled. I was in pain had to take advil for two days b/c tylenol did not relieve my extreme discomfort. I am worried the advil may cause problems with my baby and is it safe to get dental extractions while pregnant? Thank you for any help u can provide. Also, I will be flying home to be with family and am terrified of planes, are any medications available that will safely relieve anxiety? Thanks again!
AnswerWe do not advise the use of Advil, Motrin, Asparin, Ponstel, Anaprox, etc during pregnancy. They lower blood volume and can cause a premature closure of the ductus arteriosus in the baby's heart. Use ONLY Tylenol, Extra strength Tylenol, Tylenol with codeine, etc. for pain.
