Sleeping Positions During Pregnancy: Is Belly Sleeping Safe?
QuestionI am 31 weeks pregnant with my first child and i am finding myself waking up on my belly. i fall asleep on my side but i wake up on my belly. Is this gonna harm my baby, and what can I do about it? I am very worried. I am 21 years old.
AnswerDon't worry about it. While we like to advise you to sleep on your left side in order to increase perfusion and prevent the uterus from lying on your vena cava, it is not critical. If you wake up and notice that you are lying on your belly or on your back, merely turn on your side.
