Spotting in Early Pregnancy: What to Expect & When to Worry

Question
I have just had a pregnancy test at the doctor's and I am 3 weeks pregnant. During the past 4 days I have been spotting red blood. As of yesterday my test was positive but I am very concerned about this spotting that sometimes is accompanied by cramping on the side (especially when walking).  I also want to mention that I have pregnancy symptoms as well such as sore breasts and tiredness.

SHould I be concerned?

Answer
Anytime you have spotting during pregnancy, it is something to get checked out by your doctor.  A lot of women experience spotting and everything turns out just fine, but sometimes it can indicate a problem.  Are you cramping on only one side of your body?  If so, that is really something to your doctor should look at as it can indicate and ectopic pregnancy.  It is good that you haven't lost any of your pregnancy symptoms.  I would follow up with your OB/GYN as soon as possible.  I hope everything turns out okay for you!
