QuestionIs the danger in having a vaginal delivery due to scar tissue being weaker than unscarred tissue? I have heard this question answered yes and no. The reason I am concerned is regarding vaginal delivery after a vertical c-section.
Thank you.

AnswerScar tissue is weaker than un-scarred tissue. That is a fact.
The rate of uterine rupture (which can be a very serious complication) is much higer when the scar on the uterus is a vertical one.
Therefore, when a doctor knows that a patient has a prior c-section with a vertical incision on the uterus (not on the skin - but the uterus itself) he/she should schedule a c-section.
Planning a c-section won't prevent all uterine ruptures, because they can happen even when there has been lo labor.
Hope that helps
