Scar Tissue Complications: Beyond Pregnancy - Risks & Potential Issues

Question
Are there any complications not related to getting pregnant that having a lot of scar tissue could cause?  I had my third child and also a 4 miscarriages requiring dncs.  All my children were born early 1st one 1month due to preterm labor at 5 months, 2nd 1 month due to placenta abrutia and the 3rd 2 1/2 months early due to previa then abrutia.  I then had to go back into surgery for an infection that created a hole in my uterus and damage to part of my intestine.  While the doctor was in repairing that damage he noticed the intestine and also commented that he had never seen anything like it referring to the scar tissue everywhere and stating that some may have been caused by the internal bleeding I had from the infection and hole in my uterus.  I have heard the scar tissue can cause problems getting pregnant (which I had my tubes tied and dont plan on any more children)  but can it cause any other problems down the road?  Any increase in cancers or any other problems?

Answer
Although scarring and adhesions from previous surgery and bleeding may cause discomfort and pain at times, it does not increase the risk of cancer or any other problems. If you have had your tubes tied, it is unlikely that you will conceive ever again. Scarring in the abdomen does increase the risk of ectopic pregnancy, but you should not have any problem with that due to the tubal ligation.
