Irregular Periods & Pregnancy Test: Possible Medication Impact?
QuestionI am 21 years old, no children, and my last period started on february 9,2005. I have not yet got my period for this month (which i have a very regular cycle)I took a pregnancy test this morning and it read negative. But about a week before i normally start my face will break out and i crave sweets. This month about a week before my period was supposed to start my face broke out and i craved sweets but no period. I am on a medicine called dextrostat and i was wondering if maybe the medicine might have had an effect on the outcome of the test. Honestly i have no idea whats going on inside me right now Im just trying to think of anything that might be going on. If you can help me i would appreciate it but if not sorry i took up your time!
AnswerIf your last period started on February 9, then you were due for your next period around March 8. If you did not get your period by March 15, take a pregnancy test. If the test is negative, you are not pregnant. I doubt that dextrostat will alter a pregnancy test. Pregnancy tests detect the presence of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropic hormone). If this hormone is present, you are pregnant. If it is absent you are not pregnant.
