QuestionI am 21, I have given birth to 3 kids and my last period was Feb. 17, 2005. I have been trying to get pregnant since last june, actively since oct. but suffer from irregular periods. My ob/gyn prescribed me alesse to regulate periods. The first time, I took it for the full month, then stopped to see if I could get a spontaneous period, I did, that was in Dec./ Jan., and have been sucessfully getting a period. I started a pack of pills at the end of jan. and stopped feb. 6 to see if I could ovulate thus getting pregnant. around the 16th of march, I had some bleeding, just enough for a pantiliner. Actually it was more like pink streaked stringy mucous, off and on for about 3 days. I was thinking it might be implantation bleeding ( Sorry to be so long winded), and that could coincide with ovulation. I have had some symptoms of pregnancy (slight nausea, breast tenderness, I know it sounds far-fetched, but I also have the achiness in the upper part, the same feeling as when the milk comes down (I haven't expressed any), the problem is, that on mar. 17, I began taking An "herbal fertility supplement" called FeritlAid. I don't feel like I will get my period other than a generalized achiness in my lower abdomen. I have taken pregnancy tests but I don't know how accurate they are because they were each $1.00 from the dollar store. If implantation did occur around mar. 15 or 16, when would a test be potentially positive? Again, sorry for the long windedness.
AnswerIf your last period started on February 17, then you probably would have ovulated around March 2. If you did conceive around that time, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until 14-21 days later. (Implantation bleeding usually occurs 8 days after conception). The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your period. Therefore, if you do not get your period by March 23 take a pregnancy test.
