LEEP Procedure & Pregnancy: Risks and Effects

Question
i am 25. i have two children, and pregnant with my third.(lmp july 14,2005)I had a leep done on Dec.3,2004. I was wondering if that procedure will have any effect on this pregnancy.

Answer
Sometimes, a LEEP procedure shortens the cervix and can lead to cervical stenosis. This may make it difficult  for the cervix to dilate adequately during labor. If that occurs, you may have to have a cesarean section to deliver the baby. Other than that, there should be no effect on the pregnancy due to the LEEP.
