QuestionI know this really isn't a health question but I have no idea where to turn. Since you work in a hospital, I'm hoping you can help.
Approx 10 yrs ago or so my husband was anemic. It turned out to be a bleeding ulcer and he had a blood transfusion.
Well, since then he's had appointments about ever 3 weeks at the hospital. They check the hemoglobin and if its low he gets a shot. Well, it hasn't been low in a while so the Dr changed his hgb check to every OTHER month.
Apparently the hospital didn't get the fax. I tried calling the Dr to get them to re send. They told me it was the hospital's responsibility to call THEM. The hosp said it was the DR'S responsibility to call!
So now what?
So...? Which one is right? Do I have to keep going back and forth till I get get someone to call someone else? Or just ignore them till I get a call about a missed appointment? I don't know what to do know.
AnswerDear Joyce,
Thank you for writing in. I apologize for the negligence you have experienced from the healthcare profession.
My advice to you is to call the doctor's office and speak with the office manager. If this does not get you anywhere, speak directly with the doctor.
It is up to the doctor's office to be sure the fax went through successfully, the hospital has no way of knowing what they are sending as an order.
Please feel free to write back in if this fails to give you an adequate response.
