LEEP and Future Pregnancy: Understanding Risks and Options
QuestionHi! I am 22 years old and was recently diagnosed with severe dysplacia that is in the glands at this point. I already had one LEEP procedure and they are expecting to have to do another one in the near future. I badly want to have children and want to know what my odds are of this LEEP procedure resulting in my inability to carry a full term pregnancy. If that is the case, what options do I have in order to carry my own baby? Would I need a bedrest pregnancy or a cerclage? Please let me know as I am devastated!
AnswerTheresa,
I obviously don't know the extent of you LEEP procedure, but you should be able to carry a baby to term without any problems. I see patients all the time who have had a LEEP in the past and they are coming in to have their baby. You should really discuss your specific case with your doctor, but You shouldn't have any problems as far as having an incompetent cervix. I hope this helps.
