Mirena IUD & Pregnancy: Understanding Cycle Changes & Early Signs

Question
I have the mirena IUD and I have a 8 month old child. I am 20 and married I haven't had a period since before I got before a got pregnant with my son. I want to Know if it is posible to get pregnant even though I am not having my periods? I am only spotting ever once in a while and i havn't spotted in a few months, and now for the past 2 weeks my stomach has been feeling weird. I have been throwing up for the past 3 days. Would the Mirena give false results on a home pregnany test?

Answer
If you have the IUD in place, it is highly unlikely that you could become pregnant, especially if you have not had a period in such a long time. Usually, when you do not get your period, you will not ovulate and cannot conceive. A pregnancy test is a test for the presence of HCG, the hormone of pregnancy. If it is present in your urine or blood it will show up on a pregnancy test no matter whether you hafe a Mirena or not. If it is present, the test is positive. If it is absent, the test is negative.
