UTI & Pregnancy Test: Can a UTI Affect Results?

hi my name is vicky. i'm 20 years old. i'm a three days late and i believe that i have a UTI. My last period was April 23-27..my period is always regular but i did have unprotected sex on one of my fertile days. I have been under some stress lately but i was wondering if a UTI could mess up the pregnancy results. Thank you.

A UTI will not interfere with a pregnancy test. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your  period. You were due for your period on May 20. Therefore, a pregnancy test would be accurate after May 27. Try it again after May 27. If you think you have a UTI (burning, frequency, urgency) take a urine culture and you will know for sure. If the pregnancy test is negative after May 27, you probably have some hormonal imbalance, this month.
