Pregnancy After Tubal Ligation: Possible? - Expert Advice
QuestionOk i had my tubal in january but I have felt pregnant all this time, and I am really wonderign if it was possible that I was pregnant before i had the tubal?
AnswerDear Teena,
If a woman is still in her childbearing years, many doctors will do a pregnancy test before performing a tubal ligation. You might want to call your doctor's office to see if this was done. If not, it is not impossible that you might have conceived prior to the tubal ligation. You should have been having regular periods even though you had a tubal ligation (unless you did not have regular periods before the procedure).
You will need to test for pregnancy to know for sure. You can either do a home pregnancy test or go into the office for a more conclusive quantitative blood pregnancy test (serum beta hCG). If you test at home, make sure to use 1st morning urine to get a concentrated sample for the most accurate results.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
