Understanding Pink Discharge in Early Pregnancy: Causes & What to Do
QuestionHello,
I am 5 weeks pregnant according to my Dr. . Here is the history. LMP was 8-11, had intercourse on the 23rd and the 26th of August(I believe I got pregnant on the 26th. Tested on 9-6, 9-7, 9-8 all negative. Tested on 9-11 and got a positive. However I started having a pinkish discharge on Wed. 9/14. Dr. told me to rest nothing strenuous, etc. Which I did. 9-15 no bleeding. 9-16 more pinkish/red discharge in the late afternoon, mostly when I wipe. I took two beta test Wed beta was 100 Friday was 209. I have one more on Monday. I know they doubled but are they low? Is there anything else I can do besides rest? Thanks in advance for your advice.

AnswerAs long as you are not having HEAVY vaginal bleeding along with cramping, you are probably fine. It is common to have some pinkish discharge in early pregnancy. Sometimes, you can have brownish spotting (due to old blood). If the Beta HCG is rising, it is a good sign. You are now only 5 weeks 3 days pregnant. The HCG values will start to rise significantly soon. If Monday's test has risen, just wait until you are 7 weeks from your last period and then get a sonogram. By then, you should see a fetus and a fetal heartbeat if all is well.
