Question-------------------------
Thank you in advance for your speedy reply.
I have a few photos of my vaginal area my husband took this evening so I could email to my current OB or second opinion specialist if need be.
Im not sure if I can send photos to this site(allowed?)but I would like the opinion of a OBGYN before I physically see a Doctor.
My husband "thinks" my Dr. didnt stitch me up enough so it looks as though my vagina and rectum are connecting. There is skin in between the two (periueum) but its very stretched out and discolored.
I agree the opening looks long and definetly not tight.
Also, my epis has healed to the right, the skin is literally pulled over to the right and my insides look as though they are protruding out of my opening.
Can this be corrected by my OBGYN or does it all fall under "cosmetic surgery"?
As mentioned, Im still in mild pain and continue getting lacerations on my perineum with intercourse...Im just a mess.
I hope I am able to send the photos...I truly appreciate your help and look forward to your reply.
Melissa.

Question -
29 yrs old, 2 children (10 yr old and 8 week old baby)
Vag delivery on 07/28/05 - Episiotomy with 7 stitches.
Not breastfeeding. 2 wks after noticed stitch missing & repair looked very crooked. On exam OB said superficial separation, no worries.
Said after children all vaginas "look different" and since Im not a penthouse centerfold I shouldnt be so concerned. Also said OK to have sex again...Hubby and I tried 3 times, everytime I tear in same spot (to the right of my vaginal opening and on perineum) OUCH !
Called OB, said pelvic rest and neosporin x 10 days, then attempt sex w/lots of lub, if I tear/rip again he needs to see me.
With my first child I did have a "sensitive spot" where my epis healed up and would irritate every so often but nothing major. This tear is definetely different. What does this sound like to you? Will it get better with time?
Regarding my crooked vagina and ugly stretched out perineum, is this due to natural causes or the Dr's hand? Is there anything I can do to correct the problem? It almost looks as though I have one big hole (vagina and rectum) with nothing separating. I feel extremely disfigured now. Should I just "deal with it" and except my new ugly vagina? I truly appreciate your assistance in this matter.
Answer -
It sounds like you may need a "second opinion" by a different obstetrician. If it appears like you have "one big hole" (vagina and rectum) you may have had a 4th degree laceration of your rectum that was not repaired adequately. I would either go back to your original obstetrician and have it checked out or see another obstetrician as a second opinion consultation. Do not wait too long. If you have damage or a fistula, it may not be able to be repaired for a few months. However, you should know what is going on.
AnswerIt would not help for me to see photographs of your problem. You have to actually have the exam and allow the area to be evaluated. Photographs cannot be used to diagnose a problem. It may be healing correctly or it may be healing incorrectly. Make an appointment with a gyn and have it checked out correctly.
