Understanding Vaginal Anatomy & Inserting Items Safely
QuestionHello my question for you is I've been getting recurrent yeast infections lately so I've using monistat to treat, while doing so I noticed that I have 2 directions inside my vagina sometimes it goes to the right when I insert something and it does straight in and down, I feel like maybe that's why I'm not treating the yeast infections properly because I didn't notice until recently and I don't know if this is normal or which direction I should be going in, also on the rare occasions that I use a tampon, sometimes it will go to the right and I have ti take it back out and make it go straight, is this normal, can't find anything online
AnswerDear Jasmine
This can be a longitudinal vaginal septum that makes your vagina divided into two. A clinical examination is a must for proper diagnosis. Ultrasound and hysteroscopy may be needed as well to make sure that no other abnormality is present.
This is a fairly uncommon condition but the treatment is really easy for a vaginal septum; only dividing the fibrous septum with scissors will do the job. However; other associated uterine abnormailties should be excluded. e.g. double uterine cavity.
Good Luck
