Ovulation Prediction: Timing for Conception After Miscarriage
QuestionHi~
I am 26 years old and have 2 children ( born 3/2003 and 6/2004). I had a miscarriage on Nov 18, 2005. My first period started Dec 17, 2005 and my most recent period started January 20, 2006. Can you help me determine when to expect ovulation to maximize our chances of getting pregnant this month? Also, what days would be best to try to conceive?
Thanks so much,
Brooke
AnswerIf your last period started on January 20 and your previouse period started on December 17, you had a 35 day cycle this month. Ovulation usually occurs fourteen days PRIOR TO the first day of your period. If you continue to have a 35 day cycle, ovulation will occur on cycle day #21. However, you may not always have a 35 day cycle. Keep a record of the first day of your period for the next 6 months. Take the average number of days from the start of one period to the start of the next period. That will be the number of days in the length of your cycle. The subtract 14 days from that number and that is the cycle day that you ovulate (counting from the first day of your period). YOu can ONLY become pregnant from one day prior to the day of ovulation up to two day after the day of ovulation. That is when you should concentrate having intercourse, each month. Good Luck.
