Irregular Periods After Miscarriage: Causes & What to Do

Question
I am 29 yrs old.  I had a miscarriage on Nov 13/04. It was my first pregnancy.  I had a normal period on Jan 13th, then another Feb 15th and then another March 22nd.  Since then I have not had a natural period at all.
I went to my GP in June, who did an ultrasound which was normal, then did a progesterone challenge which forced a period in July.  Since then, nothing.
Is this normal after a miscarriage, could there be something else going on?  She mentioned stress, however I don't feel stressed at all - and certainly, since May after no period for several months, I haven't been stressing out about trying to get pregnant again.
My GP recommended fertility drugs if I want to try to get pregnant now, but twins is not a side-effect I'm willing to risk right now.  I'd like to see what happens naturally, but don't know how long this could last.
Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
The miscarriage did not cause you to have irregular periods. You did get your period in January, February, and March. The reason for missing your periods since is most likely due to hormonal imbalance. If progesterone brought on your period, you probably merely had a deficiency of pregesterone(which may have caused the miscarriage as well.). I would suggest that you take another course of progesterone to bring on your period. If you do not get regular periods from then on, you should go on birth control pills for a few months to regulate your cycle. Then stop the pills and try to conceive if you wish. You do not need fertility drugs at this time, since you did, indedd, become pregnant last November.
