Persistent PMS-Like Symptoms After Partial Hysterectomy: What to Do
QuestionI am a 40 yr woman who one year ago had a partial hysterectomy. Prior to the hyst. I was having my period constantly, all but a week a month, and the other week I had PMS. Now for the last six months I live with PMS signs all but one week of the month. Tender breasts, cramps, weight gain, swelling, fatigue, hypoglycemia and a few other things. I have gained 20 pounds in that time and I don't know what to do. My doctors have no answer for this and I am becoming untolerable to my friends and family. My concentration is low due to the fatigue. I wake up so swollen every morning that I can not bend my fingers and even my eyes are close to being swollen shut. If I get hot, I also instantly swell up. Vacations in warm climates are a nightmare due the instant swelling. I have seen my family practioner and OB. Neither seems to know what to do for me. I need some sound advice on where to go and what tests may need to be done. I take a diuretic every day to help with the water rentention, but it only really helps the one week of the month that I am not experiencing all of the signs of PMS. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated. Also please ignore any spelling on the medical terms. Thank you very much. Kelly
AnswerActually many women are vit B 6 deficient when they have PMS. My patients find 50mg three times a day about the correct dose. They also find the irritability responds to 1000mg daily of omega -3 caps. OK?
Eliminating all wheat from the diet helps the swelling a lot. OK?
