Understanding a Difficult 20-Week Ultrasound: What to Expect

Hi just had my 20 week scan and am disappointed as baby was laying at an awkward position so the heart chambers, spine and umbilical cord could no be seen properly so I have got to go back on 4th July.  Ive now got myself in a right state worrying that there is something wrong.  Is this a common problem as nobody I know has ever had this happen to them.

I bet you are worried...and waiting is the worst!  However, it is normal for this to happen.  Your baby was just being a stinker and wanted to keep things a secret.  Just because they can't visualize things when the fetus is in a certain position, doesn't mean there is a problem.  It is a good thing that they are bringing you back to make certain that everything is okay.  If there really would have been a problem, they would not have let you leave the office without knowing.  I know it is hard, but try and relax until the 4th.  Good luck and I hope this helps!
