Post-Miscarriage Period & Fertility: What to Expect

Question
I am 31, no children and my last period was Dec 6th.  I experienced a miscarriage which began on Jan 23rd.  (all natural, no D&C performed) and on February 7th my beta quant levels tested at less than 2.  The bleeding had completly stopped.  This was my first pregnancy.  A few questions: When should I expect my next period to occur? can we get pregnant before then? and is it dangerous to have unprotected sex before that first period occurs? (we are trying to get pregnant).  Thank you for answering these questions.

Answer
After a miscarriage, we usually ask our patients to wait until they get a normal period before they start trying to conceive once again. There is no reason to wait any longer than that. You may or may not ovulate in around 14 days from the start of bleeding. The only reason we ask you to wait for a normal period is to be able to "date" the pregnancy. Good Luck.
