Question - I'm not completely sure on my period, because I was on birth control and ran out in Jan. It's approx. Jan. 20th.
I just had my first appt. I am pregnant, but the doctor only found the "sack and yolk", and no baby. Possibly to early or bad pregnancy. What could be the reasons for this? My older sister had similar pregnancy and miscarried about 3-4 mnths along.
Answer -
When was the first day of your last period? If you are less than 6 weeks from that date, a sonogram will only show an empty gestational sac but no fetus or fetal heart beat. After 6 weeks from the first day of your last period, we usually will see a fetus and a fetal heartbeat on sonogram. Don't worry. It does not necessarily mean that you will miscarry. You did not mention when your last period started so I can't tell how far pregnant you actually are.
AnswerIf your last period was January 20, you should now be 7.5 weeks pregnant and you should have seen a fetus and a fetal heartbeat on sonogram. If your last period started after January 30, you will not see a fetus or a fetal heartbeat yet.If you are really more than 7 weeks from the first day of your last period and there still is no fetus seen, it is a non-viable pregnancy.
