Early Pregnancy Signs: Implantation or Miscarriage?

Question
I have been charting my bbt, cervical fluid and position and also use OPKs.  My LMP was Sept. 22, 2008 and I ovulated on Sept. 9th with intercourse Sept. 7,8 and 9th.  My temperature has been much higer than normal this cycle averaging around 99.8 pretty steadily.  I have two kids and am pretty familiar with the symptoms I get when pregnant.  The most apparent ones I have right now is swollen breast and VERY noticable veins and some nausea in the past few days and I'm just exhausted.  My luteal phase is normally 11 or 12 days long.  Yesterday, at 8dpo, I started bleeding.  It started out mostly brown with some red and has been accompanied by cramping.  Today, the bleeding has continued and is a darker red, some bright red and more of the brown.  It is more than spotting but considerably less than the first day of my normal period.  The other symptoms have continued.(the veins, etc.)  Also, my temperature has remained high and it always drops back down right before menses.  I haven't had a positive test so far but am curious if this sounds like an early period or something I should be concerned with. I have never heard of implantation being anything more than spotting so I don't know if it is still possible to be pregnant.  Also, I am RH negative and my husband is positive so if it is possible that it is a miscarriage, do I need to get an injection? It is the weekend so my Dr. is unavailable and I really can't afford a trip to the hospital unless necessary.  I truly appreciate any help you can be.  Thank you very much for your time!

Answer
Melissa,
I don't think your veins have anything to do with early prenancy. Yes, your blood volume increases with pregnancy, but not right away. It takes months to build up. You may very well have an early period or have miscarried. I can't really begin to guess. As long as the bleeding isn't bright red or heavy that you need to be changing your pad every 30 min, then I think you are safe for the weekend. Call your doctor on Monday so they can do some blood work. yes, you would need Rhogam if you did in fact miscarry, but it can wait a day if you are stable. Good luck to you!
