Delayed Ovulation: Understanding Negative Ovulation Test Results

Question
Age 34, 0 Children, 21 March - I was told that I would be ovulating approx. 14 days after the 1st day of my cycle wich was on the 21st of March. So on the 1st of April thru the 5th of April I took over the counter ovulation tests to pinpoint what day I was actually ovulating, the thing is that the tests showed I was not ovulating any of those days. What does this mean? Does this mean I am not producing an egg to be fertilized? Any help on this would really help. Thanks Rachel

Answer
Ovulation occurs on cycle day #14 IF YOU HAVE A NORMAL 28 DAY CYCLE. If you have a longer or shorter cycle, ovulation can occur later on in the month. If you have a 29 day cycle, ovulation occurs on cycle day #15. If you have a 35 day cycle, ovulation occurs on cycle day #21. The ovulation predictor tests are pretty accurate. You should calculate how many days your cycle actually is. Then you can figure out when you ovulate. If an ovulation predictor test does not indicate when you ovulated, continue testing your urine until it does snow ovulation. If there is a problem, check with your doctor.
