Ovulation Kits vs. Pregnancy Tests: What You Need to Know

Hi. I was told that you can use ovulation kits to test for pregnancy, and if you get a line the same color or darker in the result window, this may be an indication that you are pregnant. Is this true?

No. You cannot use ovulation kits to test for pregnancy. Ovulation kits test for the presence of LH (Luteinizing hormone), which is released around 12 hours prior to ovulation.  Pregnancy tests test for the presence of HCG (Human chorionic gonadotropic hormone), the hormone of pregnancy. If it is present in your urine or blood, you are pregnant. If it is not present, you are not pregnant. Its just that simple. The two tests are not interchangeable.
