Understanding a 1ml Perisac Hematoma in Early Pregnancy
QuestionI am 31 with 3 boys. LNP 28th March 2006. I am 8 weeks pregnant after a blighted ovum 4 months ago. I recently had an u/s and it said that ther was 1ml peri-sac heamatoma. What is this ?
AnswerA "subchorionic hematoma" is merely a sequestration of blood in the developing placenta. It does not cause a miscarriage, it usually has no effect on the fetus. We often put the patient on bedrest as long as she is bleeding, but the bleeding usually dissipates within weeks. Don't worry about it.
