Emergency Contraception & Blood Clot Risk: What to Know
QuestionMy girlfriend and I, recently made love and we had an accident. She is unable to use Birth Control due to the risk of Blood Clots. She has a severe problem with them. That they needed to take her off of it. I need to know if the Morning after pill since one of the side effects is blood cloting will harm her. Also she has just finished her period 3 days ago. So does that also lessen the chance that she will become pregnant? I dont know what to do. We are lost right now. I love her so much and I am so worried about her and these blood clots. please help, thank you very much for your time. Bob
AnswerIf she has a 28 day cycle, she can only ovulate around cycle day #14. She can conceive only if she has sex on cycle day #14,15,16, or 17. She cannot become pregnant on those days. She cannot become pregnnat 3 days after her period as long as she does not have an 11 day period. Always count from the first day of her period. It never matters when her period ends. You can use condoms or a diaphram without risk of blood clots. If she has a problem with taking the pil, she cannot take the morning after pill either.
