QuestionI am 10weeks Pregnant, a week or so ago I had a hard stool that felt like I may have ripped a part of my anus. Since then I have had bleeding everytime I have had a bowel movement whether it be a soft stool or hard stool. At times there has been a little mucus included and at times there are dime sized red blood clots. The bleeding is always bright red. I am concerned because I am 10 weeks pregnant. My sister is a nurse and said as long as I'm not having any stomach pain I am probably ok. I plan on calling my OBGYN on Monday if it hasn't gone away. Can anyone help me with this? Again there is no pain when passing stool now just that one time and I have no stomach pain.
AnswerKenny,
It sounds as if you have a small internal laceration or possibly a hemorrhoid and every time you eliminate, you're opening the wound from the pressure.
The clots are most likely the scab sloughing off. Bright red blood would indicate a fresh wound. If the blood was dark like coffee grounds, or bleeding other than when you eliminated, then it would be more of a concern.
If you are not having pain or cramping, then you are most likely fine. You may need to take a safe stool softener such as Colace while the area heals and stay well hydrated with water to prevent this from happening again and to allow the area to heal.
Do mention it to your doctor, but without pain, fever, or cramping, then most likely it's one of the two causes mentioned above.
