Understanding Infant Fussiness: Fists, Screaming, and Sleep Disruptions

Question
My 3 month old grand daughter has been for no apparent reason, balling up her fists, putting them up beside her face, and screaming. When she is having one of the "espisodes",she does not seem to comprehend anything, like you trying to soothe her. I called her name out really loud, and she finally just kind of shook her head a bit,as if coming out of a dream state, and looked at me as if to say.."what is it"? Then she falls alseep. This went on off and on one Friday night all night long. I know her mom smoke pot around her,so can this be from inhaling the pot smoke? I have yet to talk to the pediatrician, and wondered if I should ask her. If you can help me I would appreciate it very much...Thanks

Answer
Hello Rita. I have no idea whether the pot smoking could be the cause, but I would certainly suspect it. It is a powerful drug and NOT a good thing for an infant to be breathing in. I suggest you DO consult the dr. about this issue. All the best- Cheri.
