Fertility Tips for Irregular Periods: Understanding Conception

Question
Hello,
I was just wondering if you had any advice on the following situation.  My husband and I have been married for 2 years and we have been trying to get pregnant for the past 5 months.  I used to have irregular periods, then went on the pill and they became regular.  I went off the pill about 1 year ago.  Since then, my periods were irregular again and then have evened out to about 5 weeks between each period.  I guess my question is that if I have a 5 week cycle, what day in between am I most likely to get pregnant?  My last period began on May 14.  I expect my next one on June 21.  What do you think?  Thank you for your help.

Answer
If you have a 5 week cycle (35 days), then ovulation occurs fourteen days prior to your period. If your last  period was May 14, You probably ovulated on cycle day #21 and can conceive if you have sex on cycle da #13,14,15, or 16.  You probably ovulated on June 3 and can conceive if you have sex on june 2,3,4, or 5. You are due for your next period on June 17 (five weeks after May 14_). It is quite common to start the pills when you have irregular cycles and revert back to irregular cycles once you stop the pills. If you do not have succes after 12 months, consult a doctor. Good Luck.
