Understanding Large Babies: Causes, Diet & Support

Question
I just found out I am having a third boy.  My first baby was 9lbs 12oz and my second baby was 10lbs 2oz.  I am 5'2" and I have gained 30lbs with both pregnancies.  I am not diabetic and have a clear glucose test result.  I just have big babies.  I was told there might be a fruit, vegi and nut diet or something that I could "do" to help with this.  Any info on this sort of thing?

Answer
Hi Melissa,

First of all, congratulations on your third boy.  Unfortunately, it isn't safe to try and "diet" while you are pregnant.  Eating less of, or different types of food will only effect your weight.  The baby will take what he needs from you first, so you will be the one that will be lacking in nutrients, which isn't good for your pregnancy at all.  You are just destined to have large babies.  In most cases, the doctor will induce early (38+ weeks) to help the situation.  Other than that, there isn't much you can do.  Good luck!  You never know, this one may suprise you and be smaller.
