QuestionI have had a hormonal imbalance for a while and have bleed since October for every day up until about 4 weeks ago. Now the past week I have been queasy on off through out the day, I throw up in the morning when I drink coffee, plus my breasts are sore on and off and I have slight cramping on my ovaries. I also have been noticably a little more tired through out the day. So could I be pregnant or is it my hormones just balancing back out?
AnswerDear Candace,
If you have had unprotected sex since your last regular period, you cannot dismiss the possibility of pregnancy. Now, because you have such an irregular bleeding history, I would extend this to probably the last 6 weeks or so.
The symptoms you describe are associated with early pregnancy, but they are hormonal in nature and can also be due to hormone fluctuations within your cycle. That is why it is so difficult to "diagnose" a pregnancy based on symptoms alone. I will say however, if your hormone levels are actually balanced and cycling as they should be, you don't experience the symptoms you describe.
My suggestion would be to test for pregnancy. Make sure to use 1st morning urine to get a concentrated sample for the most accurate results. If it is negative and you continue to experience the symptoms and do not have a period, re-test after 5-7 days. It will be a bit more difficult to determine when you might have conceived due to your menstrual history.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
