Understanding Irregular Periods & Birth Control: What to Expect

l2mp- 7/26-7/27 very light( this is when I am supposed to have my period last week of bc the white pill) 8/8-8/11(lmp). My question is that I have been taking bc since May. my periods are supposed to be at the end on each month but I am guessing it is breakthrough bleeding that is causeing me to have my period the second week into my bc each month. this past two weeks I missed my pill once for 3 days so I did the take 2 pills one day then 2 the next to stay on track, and this week I missed my pill on tues. & wed. so I took two today 8/17 and will take two on 8/18. My next MP should be the middle of next week. all my periods have been light. these last two weeks I have had really bad headaches and this week my lower back aches i have been really tired lately and my boobs feel a little fuller. Could there be a change of any kind that I could be pregnant? I was pregnant 9 years ago and had a miscarrage, but I remember when it happened and I did have my period for the two months that I was, and all the pregnancy tests were neg, i was able to get a blood test and that was how i found out. Is there any way I could be preg. And I don't know which period i should use as my lmp. since I have one twice a month and they are both light lasting 2 or three days. Any information you can give me would be great. Thanks for your help- Nikki

I would go get a blood test to make sure either way. At the least it sounds like you need to have these pills changed, maybe the type or the dosage, some are tripasic and some are monophasic, meaning some have different hormone levels in them and others have the same anount of hormones in them all month long. Whatever you are on does not sound like it is the best for you, having that breakthrough bleeding every month must be a drag!

Because you missed some of the pills and took them after, I dont know if this would mess your cycle up or not, or even allow you to ovulate... but since you have a history of pregnancy with bleeding, for your peace of mind I would get a test done.  Plus if you are, you need to get off the pills asap. So is there any way you could be pregnant? I'd say possibly. I dont really think so, but there is a possiblity.
