Understanding a Missed Miscarriage: What to Expect and Next Steps

i had a miscariage a week ago i went to ER when i saw that i was bleeding i had an ultrasound done the fetus is still in me but the ultrasound showed that i was only 9weeks/ when i really was 13 weeks. the doctors say that i will pass out the baby but what should i do? i mean i do want to get another ultrasound done to see if i already passed it out.

I really would recommend that you see your regular doctor. Your doctor will want to make sure that you have had a complete miscarriage, especially as far into your pregnancy as you were. If any tissue has been left behind, they will need to do a D & C to avoid a very serious excessive bleeding or infection potential.

I hope this answers your question and I'd like to express to you my sadness in your loss. Please know that most all miscarriages cannot be prevented. They are nature's way of dealing with a pregnancy in which something has gone very wrong in the initial development of the fetus.
