Possible Miscarriage Symptoms & Early Period - Seeking Information

Question
I am 17 years old and think that i am having a miscarriage. I think it would be from 2 months ago rather than from sex i have recently had. This is the situation: I had sex in February several times well, about a week after having sex, I had started spotting, but not enough to even get on my panties, this happened for not even a complete day. about a week and a half later I started my period it was about 5 days early. It wasn't heavy it was weird, kind of pinkish with clear residue. It never got to heavy, but then weird looking whitish pinkish stuff was coming out, it had a texture to it, it wasn't a blood clot or nothing. This "period" continued for 2 weeks...the LONGEST ever. The whole time it was different. It wasn't heavy like my normal periods but long, and somedayz it acted like it would stop with brownish stuff coming out, but then it would start with the pinkish reddish stuff again. It finally stopped and its a month later and my period it back..extra heavy, soaked a pad in 2 hours!!!!....then about the third day of it I passed something....i thought it was the hugest clot ever, but I picked it up (gross)...and it was not as thin as a clot and had texture to it...it couldn't be smashed or nothing....it had like to layers to it...like a flattened noodle or sack!!!....after that my period has been regular and not as heavy....but with bad cramps...I thought that I was pregnant to begin with, I didn't never actually know if I was pregnant, I had some of the signs...my breast had hurt a little bit...and my nails are longer than ever....but could this be a miscarriage?...please help if you know...i didn't know what other category to put this under...please help..please.

Answer
It sounds like you did have a miscarriage. But I am not a medical professional or an expert on natural miscarriages, so I can't be sure about this.

Whatever it is, though, you should see a doctor immediately. If it was a miscarriage, your doctor will need to check that all the fetal matter has been properly expelled from your uterus, so that you don't get an infection (which can have very serious complications). If it wasn't a miscarriage, this is definitely not normal menstrual behaviour, so it won't hurt to find out what's going on.

Take care, and feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

PS: It's always a good idea to use a condom - but you knew that already, right?
