-Abby,
I was in Canada for 8 month and during the 6 month winter my knees "gradually" got sore as much as I couldn't walk any more. Its 5 month I have come back and even though I have had a lot of progress I still have tendonitis. Does it usually take a long time to fully recover and does it have to "gradually" recover like it injured in the first place ? How long does it usually take and what can be done ? I also have had general weakness of my body since I couldn't run and do sports any more. I have also got tired of physio. and I seem to have a moderate depression and stress which also slowes down my recovery.
I appreciate any advice you can give me,
All the best,
Bob

Bob,
Can you be a bit more specific about the pain in your knees? Who told you that you had tendonitis, have you had xrays and all that...also, were you doing anything in particular that contributed to the 'gradual' escalation? Did the physio work on anything aside from your knees? If other problems have been ruled out, it makes sense that you are feeling less strong and are depressed-pain will do that to a person. I wish the best for you. I will try to answer what I can when you reply. Thanks. Abby
Abby,
The doctor told my that I had tendonitis and prescribed Celebrex for me which wasn't that effective. He told me to do some stretches-since my knee has become a bit stiff during this time- and was some what effective but I still can't sit on my knees bent. My xray was fine, so was my ESR...
During that time since the weather was cold (way below zero) I could not tolerate the cold and I had to run from my house to school with out being warmed up, I also had a bit stress because of the new environment and school.. and I reached a point where I saw that I cannot run and I stood in the middle of all the snow. Feeling humiliated I came back from Canada to my Country (Iran).
The Physiotherapy was some what helpful but it got tiring.
During this time I tried to strengthen my muscles as my doctor also told me to do and I also tried to be mentally healthy. I can walk and sometimes run (slowly) but I still have problem with the stairs, specially going down.
I appreciate any advice you can give me and another question I forgot to ask you was that in this condition do you think it is logical for me to go to another country like Ukraine and start studing again? I mean I have had a bit progress.
The best to you too,
Bob
AnswerBob,
If the pain is just in your knees--have you considered that you may have a bit of arthritis? I don't know how old you are or what type of walking and schooling you refer to, but if nothing has helped in all this time, perhaps that's something to ask your doc. about. I can't recommend that you do or do not go back to school, I'm not a doctor. As far as massage therapy goes, it might help to have your quads and hamstrings worked on, and the IT band, as well. Good luck! Abby
