Understanding Post-C-Section Pain: Causes & Relief
QuestionHello,
I'm running out of ideas as to what is causing this pain and have been to several doctors because of it. It's in my lower left side, and feels like it's my right ovary. I am one who can always feels ovulation. However, this pain never goes away. I've had this pain starting back 2 years ago, just before I got pregnant with my now 17 month old son. Since I had a c-section, my OB biopsied both of my ovaries for my peace of mind, and those tests came back normal. Flash forward to a couple of months ago; I'm still hurting so I went to another doctor. I got an ob checkup, thorough bloodwork, and a very thorough ultrasound. Everything shows to be normal, so why do I still hurt?? My last resort was that maybe it was due to my colon, so I did a hemoccult test, which was also normal. I am now on a list for a colonoscopy, but have to wait 6 months to get it since I am uninsured and have to use a health clinic that puts people on a waiting list. My question is this: Is there ANY way that this pain could be some sort of internal scarring from my c-section? It always hurts, but not excruciating .. just annoying. I am kind of grasping at straws here and I realize you can't know the exact answer, but just wanted a professional person's feedback. What DOES internal scarring feel like? Is it possible that I am still feeling it & does it ever go away? I also want to add that there is a patch of skin on the external part of my lower abdomen that is still numb from the c-section ... even all this time later! Thanks so much for listening & whatever ideas or suggestions you might have.

AnswerBethany,
You are a perfect example of what's wrong with today's healthcare. You are uninsured and I would imagine doctor's aren't too quick to order tests for you. I'm sure you feel like no one is listening to you. If you feel like in your heart, that something is wrong, keep going to doctors. Don't let them just medicate you. Make them search for an anwser for you. I am only guessing, but I suppose the pain you are having could be from scarring. I don't know what scarring pain is suppose to feel like. There are a lot of muscles and tissue to cut through during a c-section. I don't know why one side is always numb. I wish I had more answers for you. Good luck to you!
