QuestionIs it possible to have a kidney stone at this age?
I've heard such bad stories about passing stones... is it possible to have them removed a different way?
I will get it checked out...

For a while now I have had issues with the bathroom. We don't get along.
I have trouble passing bowels, and make a trip to the bathroom 4-5 times a day (I don't drink coffee, or any laxatives). Recently, I have had stabbing pains in my stomach that sometimes drop me to my knees. The pain is located left of the naval.
Also recently, I have felt a new pain I've never felt before. A few days ago after some serious pains, I couldn't stand up straight. When I tried to stand up straight I felt a pain like I was irritating a cut, beneath my abdominal muscles. It wasn't an ordinary sotmach pain, but a constricting pain. It's hard to describe, perhaps you could provide more insight?
Health habits:
I eat 3-4 meals a day, light meals, to try to absorb the most energy and not have alot of excrement. I am 6' and weigh 150lbs, active at the gym, 20 years old.
If you could offer me some advice or insight as to why this is happening I will feel much better, even if it's bad news.

Sharp stabbing pains on the left side could be an intestinal problem, could be a kidney stone moving, or could be a hernia on that side. It is impossible for me to sort that out over the internet, but it sounds like you need to get this checked out.
Hope this helps...
AnswerIt is certainly possible to have a kidney stone at this age. Also, most people (75%) pass them on their own- not really pleasant. But, if it doesn't pass in a week or so, then the doctor can go in with a scope and bring it out. However, you don't want that done unless you have to, because it causes some trauma to the ureter, and sometimes you have to have a tube in there for a few days, etc. But, we don't know it is a stone yet, so get it checked out.
