Postpartum Bleeding & Discharge After C-Section: What to Expect
QuestionI have 6 kids and 4 weeks ago I had a c-section and tubal done. I bled for 5 days after and then a few days later I had a bowel movement and had a gush of brown blood/mucus that is still going on. It is not a lot but it is very disgusting. How long will this last? I have never experienced anything like this after having a baby.
AnswerAfter delivery or a C Section it is normal to expect some brownish/ white discharge for about four to six weeks. Sometime it may be present for longer. But it will eventually subside. It will subside in your case as well in the next 2-3 weeks. There is nothing much you can do about this discharge as it is a part of the healing process. I understand that you have never had this before during your earlier pregnancies, but what you are experiencing is not abnormal. In fact it is to be expected. There is nothing to worry as long as the discharge does not turn into pus or foul smelling or you develop fever.
