QuestionHello Mr. Ravichandran,
My wife is now 6 weeks pregnant and she is bleeding.
Ultrasonograph or Early Pregnancy report reads:
1. Single live intrauterine gestation corresponding to 6 week gestation age
2. Small subchorionic hematoma
3. Small anterior myometrial fibroid.
What are the chances of pregnancy to continue successfully and how to control bleeding now?
My mother is a doctor and you can answer in medical terms and i can read out your solutions/interpretation.
Thanks and Regards,

AnswerI firstly applogise for the delay. Before try to answer your question i need to what do you mean by bleeding. Is it profuse or scanty. Can you describe more about it in detail. Bleeding in the early weeks of pregnancy is fairly common and most women with minor bleeds or spotting go on to deliver healthy babies. Secondly the other conditions namely a myometrial fibroid and sub chorionic haematoma are by themselves not dangerous to the pregnancy. It is possible for the fibroid to grow in size during pregnancy, but unlikely to cause problems.
To sum up, the chances of the pregnancy continuing depend upon the degree of bleeding. If it was profuse, fresh blood it is likely to be an abortion. Light spotting or a very minor bleed in likely to be harmless. BTW have ou got an ultrasound done after this incident. If you have not done so, get it done. It will give valuble input to aid diagnosis.A complete description of bleeding in pregnancy is not possible here, but here is a simple article on bleeding in pregnancy.
