Brown Spotting in Early Pregnancy: Causes & What to Do

Hi, I am 28. I had a miscarriage in 2004. I am pregnant now and in 6 week 3 days approx ( We think Ovulation was around 5th April according to temparature chart). My periods are irregular and last period was on Feb 17th. I started brown spotting on 2nd May, and we went to doctor. Doctor did Ultra sound and she said that it might not be good pregnancy as ultra sound is only showing some flattend shape and she said it should be round. She has me on Prometrium 200 mg X twice a day (supposit). After taking it my bleeing has increased and I am getting red blood as well. I will see doctor on Monday 05/08. What do you suggest? Is it leading to miscarriage ?

It sounds like it may, unfortunately, be a miscarriage. I can't tell much more without a later sonogram. If you have started to bleed heaviily or if you have any cramps, you should be checked to see if the cervix is opening or not If there is any cervical dilatation, it is a miscarriage. It is  strange pregnancy to begin with. If your last period started on February 17, it is abnormal to ovulate so late (cycle day #49).
